Miguel Martinez, the assistant coach of Atletico De Kolkata believes that training in Spain will help the side to develop and give the players an opportunity to learn from the La Liga champions.
Martinez: The Indian players will train in the same facilities as Atletico Madrid. This will be a great thing for you. We will then have the medical and physical test with the same doctors of Atletico. We will try to get a better fitness level as soon as possible. Our challenge is to introduce our new methodology, La Liga and even Atletico Madrid methodology with Indian players.
Barreto: We have International players who already know how we train. We will try to adapt you to get the best performance we can to compete in the league, this will be a great opportunity to also watch some training sessions with the first team of Atletico Madrid.
Martinez believes that training in such top facilities and working closely with the Atletico Madrid side will benefit the side in competing in the ISL.
Martinez: From the physical point of view we will introduce the methodology of the European leagues. We know that in each country the style of training is different. We will try to introduce the highest standard of training, the best in Europe similar to what the first team is using.
Martinez: Talking about the infrastructure here, I think the league is created to improve the Indian level here so that involves improving the training and stadium facilities here. We need the Indian people to understand that they need to improve to get to the European level.
