Denzil Franco
Interview ~ Goal 2014/07/30
Atletico de Kolkata's Denzil Franco who sought a release from Goan
I-League outfit Churchill Brothers SC to feature in the Indian Super League
(ISL) is excited about his maiden stint in Kolkata.
Denzil Franco: Playing for a club based in Kolkata would be a new
experience for me. I've always dreamt of playing in Kolkata as it's said that
in a footballer's career in India, you have to experience playing in Kolkata
for at least one year.
Denzil Franco: The atmosphere that you have there, the fans and the
crowd support is exceptional. It will be a good experience for me to play there and
hopefully it's going to be good.
The right back feels that the Kolkata franchise has a balanced squad with a good mix of experienced and young players.
Denzil Franco: Kolkata have a good team of 14 Indian players, all who have in their own ways established themselves. We have some experienced players like Climax Lawrence and some young players too, who will make a good squad
Franco meanwhile stated that he would like to return to Goa when the new season of the I-League 2014-15 is set to kick-off in January next year.
Denzil Franco: I'm keeping my options open. Whichever club approaches me, I'll look at their offer, but definitely I'd like to come back to Goa (Goan I-League club). If a Goan club approaches me, I will say 'yes' to them. Otherwise I will take it as it comes
